Responsibilities
- Accurately process and submit medical claims to insurance companies and government payers
- Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits before service delivery
- Conduct follow-ups on denied or unpaid claims to resolve payment discrepancies
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA, CMS, and payer-specific regulations
- Generate monthly reports on billing performance and denial trends
- Collaborate with clinical staff to ensure accurate documentation
- Manage patient payment plans and account balances
- Stay updated on coding systems (ICD-10, CPT) and policy changes
Qualifications
- 3+ years of medical billing experience in a healthcare setting
- Certified Professional Biller (CPB) or CPC certification preferred
- Proficiency in medical billing software (Epic, Medisoft, or similar)
- Strong knowledge of insurance claim processes and reimbursement
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in data entry
- Excellent communication skills for patient and payer interactions
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
- Associate's degree in healthcare administration or related field
