Responsibilities
- Review and verify patient medical records and insurance information for accuracy.
- Submit clean claims to insurance carriers (Commercial, Medicare, Medicaid) and follow up on pending submissions.
- Analyze denied or rejected claims, identify root causes, and resubmit with corrections.
- Manage patient accounts and billing inquiries, ensuring timely resolution.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of healthcare compliance standards, including HIPAA regulations.
- Collaborate with the medical coding team to ensure proper documentation and billing integrity.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree in Medical Billing or Healthcare Administration preferred.
- CPC, COC, or CMA certification is a strong plus.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical billing or claims processing.
- Proficiency with Electronic Health Records (EHR) and Practice Management software (e.g., Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth).
- Strong understanding of CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding guidelines.
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
