Responsibilities
- Perform venipunctures and capillary draws on patients of all ages with a high degree of accuracy and minimal discomfort.
- Verify patient identity and medical history before every procedure to ensure safety and compliance.
- Maintain strict adherence to infection control protocols and safety guidelines (OSHA).
- Label, process, and transport blood samples to the laboratory for analysis promptly.
- Comfort and educate patients regarding the blood draw process to reduce anxiety.
- Manage inventory of supplies, including test tubes and tourniquets, and maintain sterile equipment.
Qualifications
- Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) certification required.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with patients and staff.
- Physical stamina to stand for long periods and assist patients who may require mobility support.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
