Responsibilities
- Verify patient demographics and insurance eligibility to ensure accurate billing.
- Submit and follow up on claims to insurance carriers (Blue Cross, Medicare, Medicaid, etc.) in a timely manner.
- Review Explanation of Benefits (EOB) statements and resolve any discrepancies or denials efficiently.
- Manage patient billing inquiries and collect outstanding payments professionally.
- Utilize electronic health record (EHR) and billing software (e.g., Epic, Athenahealth, Cerner) to maintain accurate records.
- Stay updated on current healthcare regulations, coding updates (ICD-10, CPT), and payer policies.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree in Healthcare Administration preferred.
- Certification as a CPC, COC, or CPB is a strong plus.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in medical billing and revenue cycle management.
- Proficiency in Medical Billing software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding guidelines.
- Excellent attention to detail and analytical problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently with a flexible schedule.
