Responsibilities
- Accurately code and submit medical claims to insurance payers (CMS-1500, electronic billing).
- Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits prior to rendering services.
- Review and resolve denied claims and appeals to maximize revenue.
- Manage patient invoicing and handle patient inquiries regarding statements and balances.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records and billing documentation.
- Stay updated on healthcare compliance regulations and coding updates.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical billing or medical coding.
- Familiarity with EHR systems (e.g., AthenaHealth, Epic) and clearinghouses.
- Strong understanding of CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding guidelines.
- Detail-oriented with exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Must possess excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- CPC or COC certification preferred but not required.
