Responsibilities
- Perform accurate venipunctures and capillary blood collections on patients of all ages using proper aseptic techniques.
- Greet patients warmly, explain collection procedures, and ensure a comfortable and positive patient experience.
- Label, process, and transport blood specimens to the laboratory following strict chain-of-custody protocols and safety standards.
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation in the electronic health record (EHR) system.
- Adhere to all HIPAA privacy regulations and laboratory safety guidelines to ensure a secure environment.
- Manage inventory of supplies and ensure phlebotomy equipment is sterilized and maintained daily.
- Collaborate effectively with nurses, physicians, and lab staff to streamline patient flow and testing processes.
Qualifications
- Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) or equivalent certification required.
- Current active North Carolina State Phlebotomy License.
- Previous experience in a clinical, hospital, or outpatient setting is preferred but we welcome enthusiastic new graduates.
- Strong manual dexterity and the ability to perform draws with precision and minimal patient discomfort.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with diverse patient populations.
- Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure, including during high-volume periods.
- Must have reliable transportation and be willing to travel to various clinic locations within Raleigh.
