Responsibilities
- Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits to ensure accurate billing.
- Prepare and submit medical claims (CMS-1500) to insurance carriers electronically.
- Monitor claim status and follow up on pending or denied claims.
- Resolve billing discrepancies and provide clear explanations to patients regarding their statements.
- Maintain organized records of financial transactions and patient correspondence.
- Stay updated on changing healthcare regulations and coding updates.
Qualifications
- CPC, COC, or RHIT certification preferred (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in medical billing and coding.
- Strong working knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding guidelines.
- Proficiency with medical billing software (e.g., Epic, AthenaHealth, NextGen) and EHR systems.
- Excellent analytical skills with a high degree of attention to detail.
