Responsibilities
- Review and verify patient demographic and insurance information for accuracy before claim submission.
- Submit claims to insurance carriers electronically (ERA) and manually to ensure timely reimbursement.
- Analyze denied claims, identify root causes, and resubmit with corrected coding and supporting documentation.
- Manage accounts receivable (AR) and follow up on outstanding balances to improve cash flow.
- Communicate effectively with patients, insurance providers, and internal teams regarding billing inquiries.
- Stay updated on changing healthcare regulations, coding updates (ICD-10, CPT), and billing compliance standards.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required; Associate degree in Medical Billing, Coding, or a related field is preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of proven experience in medical billing, claims processing, or a similar healthcare role.
- Proficient in medical billing software (e.g., Epic, Cerner, AthenaHealth) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong working knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding guidelines.
- Excellent attention to detail, analytical skills, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment with a high level of accuracy.
