Responsibilities
- Claim Processing: Accurately verify and submit medical claims to insurance payers (CMS-1500 and electronic submissions).
- Patient Billing: Generate and send patient statements, explain financial responsibilities, and manage payment collections.
- Denial Management: Analyze denied claims, identify root causes, and appeal rejections to maximize reimbursement.
- Insurance Verification: Conduct pre-authorization and verification of benefits to ensure services are covered before rendering.
- Record Keeping: Maintain organized and accurate medical records, billing logs, and patient files.
Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in medical billing, coding, or claims processing.
- Education: High school diploma or GED required; certification as a CPC or CBCS is a plus.
- Software: Proficiency in EHR systems (e.g., Epic, Athenahealth, Cerner) and billing software (e.g., Practice Fusion, AdvancedMD).
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding guidelines.
- Skills: Exceptional attention to detail and strong analytical problem-solving abilities.
