Responsibilities
- Review and analyze medical records to ensure accuracy before claim submission.
- Prepare and submit clean claims to insurance payers (Medicare, Medicaid, Commercial).
- Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits prior to service.
- Follow up on unpaid and denied claims to ensure timely reimbursement.
- Manage patient billing inquiries and resolve account discrepancies professionally.
- Utilize EHR systems (Epic, Athenahealth) to maintain up-to-date records.
- Stay updated on changing coding and billing compliance regulations.
Qualifications
- Certification as a CPC, COC, RHIT, or RHIA preferred (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical billing and coding.
- Strong working knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding guidelines.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Electronic Health Records software.
- Excellent attention to detail and analytical problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication skills with both patients and insurance representatives.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
