Responsibilities
- Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits prior to service delivery.
- Accurately code medical procedures and diagnoses using CPT and ICD-10 guidelines.
- Prepare and submit claims to commercial payers, Medicare, and Medicaid efficiently.
- Manage accounts receivable, including patient billing statements and payment collections.
- Review denied or rejected claims, identify root causes, and appeal when necessary.
- Reconcile daily banking and maintain accurate billing logs and records.
- Collaborate with the billing team to optimize revenue cycle performance.
Qualifications
- Certification as a CPC, COC, or CMA preferred (AAPC or AHIMA).
- Minimum of 2-3 years of hands-on experience in medical billing and coding.
- Proficiency with EHR systems (Epic, AthenaHealth, Cerner, or Meditech).
- Strong working knowledge of Medicare and Medicaid billing guidelines.
- Exceptional attention to detail and analytical problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for patient interactions.
- Ability to work independently and meet strict deadlines.
