Responsibilities
- Claims Management: Accurately complete and submit medical claims (CMS-1500) to insurance carriers electronically and manually.
- Denial Management: Analyze denied claims, identify root causes, and resubmit or appeal denied accounts to maximize revenue.
- Patient Billing: Generate invoices, send statements, and collect payments from patients while maintaining a high level of customer service.
- Compliance: Ensure all billing practices adhere to HIPAA regulations and internal compliance standards.
- Documentation: Maintain precise records of billing transactions, insurance responses, and account status updates.
- Verification: Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits prior to the provision of services.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Medical Billing, or a related field is preferred.
- Experience: Previous experience in medical billing, coding, or revenue cycle management is highly desirable.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in EHR systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner) and medical billing software (e.g., AthenaHealth, Practice Fusion).
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and CPT/HCPCS coding guidelines.
- Soft Skills: Exceptional attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work under tight deadlines.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with patients and insurance representatives.
