Your Role
You will be responsible for the accurate and timely processing of medical claims, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations and optimizing reimbursement rates.
Responsibilities
- Review and verify medical records to ensure accuracy of documentation before billing.
- Submit claims to insurance payers (Medicare, Medicaid, Commercial) and follow up on denied or delayed claims.
- Manage patient billing inquiries, provide explanations of benefits (EOBs), and collect outstanding balances.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding guidelines and medical terminology.
- Utilize Electronic Health Records (EHR) and Billing software (e.g., Epic, AthenaHealth) to input data.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and company policies regarding patient privacy and data security.
- Collaborate with the billing team and medical staff to resolve complex billing issues.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree in Medical Billing or Health Information Management is preferred.
- Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in medical billing and coding.
- Certification (CPC, COC, or CPB) is a strong plus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with a customer service-oriented mindset.
