The Role:
As a Medical Biller, you will play a crucial role in ensuring our practice receives timely reimbursement for services rendered. You will be the bridge between our clinical staff and insurance carriers, ensuring accuracy and compliance at every step.
Responsibilities
- Review and submit medical claims to insurance payers (Medicare, Medicaid, Commercial) accurately and timely.
- Verify patient insurance eligibility and collect necessary co-pays and deductibles.
- Manage the billing cycle, including posting charges, applying payments, and generating statements.
- Research and resolve denied claims and outstanding account balances.
- Communicate effectively with patients and insurance representatives regarding billing inquiries.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and internal coding guidelines.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in the billing software.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required; Associate degree in Medical Billing or Healthcare Administration preferred.
- CPC (Certified Professional Coder), CBCS, or RHIT certification is highly desirable.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in medical billing and revenue cycle management.
- Strong knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding guidelines.
- Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems and billing software (e.g., AthenaHealth, Epic, or Cerner).
- Excellent attention to detail and analytical problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
