Responsibilities
- Review and verify patient demographics and insurance eligibility to prevent claim denials.
- Accurately code and submit medical claims to various insurance carriers (Commercial, Medicaid, Medicare).
- Analyze denied or rejected claims to determine root causes and submit necessary appeals.
- Reconcile patient accounts, post payments, and adjust balances according to payer guidelines.
- Maintain organized patient files and ensure strict compliance with HIPAA and privacy regulations.
- Communicate effectively with patients regarding outstanding balances and payment plans.
- Utilize billing software (e.g., Epic, AthenaHealth) to track account status and revenue flow.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical billing or revenue cycle management.
- Certification (CPC, COC, CMA, or RHIA) is highly preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems.
- Proficiency in Electronic Health Record (EHR) and practice management software.
- Excellent attention to detail and analytical problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently in a remote or hybrid environment.
- Strong communication skills and professional demeanor when interacting with patients and payers.
