Responsibilities
- Review and verify patient insurance information and eligibility to ensure accurate billing.
- Accurately code medical procedures and diagnoses using ICD-10 and CPT guidelines.
- Submit claims to insurance carriers (Blue Cross, Medicare, Medicaid, etc.) electronically.
- Monitor claim status and follow up on denials and appeals to maximize reimbursement.
- Prepare and send patient statements, and collect outstanding balances.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records and billing logs.
- Collaborate with the billing team and management to identify process improvements.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in medical billing or a related healthcare administrative role.
- Proven knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
- Proficiency in medical billing software (e.g., Epic, AthenaHealth, or NextGen).
- Experience with clearinghouses and CMS-1500 forms.
- Familiarity with HIPAA compliance and privacy regulations.
- Certification (CPC, COC, CMC) is highly preferred.
