Responsibilities
- Manage the front desk operations to ensure a welcoming and organized environment for all patients and visitors.
- Register new patients, verify personal and insurance information, and update electronic health records (EHR) accurately.
- Schedule patient appointments, manage provider calendars, and reschedule no-shows efficiently.
- Answer multi-line phone systems promptly, screen calls, and route messages to the appropriate staff members.
- Verify insurance benefits and eligibility, and explain patient financial responsibilities clearly.
- Process payments, handle copays, and manage cash handling with strict accuracy and adherence to HIPAA compliance.
- Prepare and mail medical records and referrals as requested by physicians or patients.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required; Associate degree in Medical Office Administration is preferred.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a medical receptionist or front desk role.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, basic billing, and insurance processes.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with EHR software (e.g., Athenahealth, NextGen) is required.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a focus on customer service.
- Ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume medical setting.
- Must maintain strict patient confidentiality and professional demeanor at all times.
