Responsibilities
- Prepare examination rooms and sterilize medical instruments to ensure a safe environment for patients.
- Assist physicians and nurse practitioners during patient examinations and procedures.
- Accurately record patient medical histories, allergies, and vital signs.
- Perform basic laboratory tests, including phlebotomy (blood draws) and EKGs, as directed.
- Manage patient check-in and check-out processes, including insurance verification and co-pays.
- Update and maintain accurate electronic health records (EHR) and charts.
- Provide patient education and instructions regarding medications and follow-up care.
Qualifications
- Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA, RMA, or NCMA) is required.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
- Minimum of 1 year of clinical experience in a medical office setting.
- Proficiency with Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems (e.g., Epic, AthenaHealth).
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a focus on patient comfort.
- Ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be willing to submit to a background check and drug screen.
