Responsibilities
- Accurately review and verify patient insurance information and eligibility.
- Prepare and submit medical claims to insurance carriers (including Medicare and Medicaid) in a timely manner.
- Follow up on denied or delayed claims to ensure maximum reimbursement.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient billing records and financial documentation.
- Respond to patient inquiries regarding billing statements and insurance coverage.
- Collaborate with the front office staff to resolve any discrepancies in patient accounts.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree in Healthcare Administration or certification (CPC, CEM) preferred.
- Previous experience in medical billing, coding, or collections (1-2 years minimum).
- Proficiency with Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems, such as Epic or Cerner.
- Strong knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding guidelines.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a part-time capacity.
