Responsibilities
- Verify patient demographics and insurance eligibility to ensure accurate billing.
- Submit clean claims to payers electronically and manually as required.
- Monitor claim status and follow up on outstanding balances.
- Research and resolve denied claims and appeals.
- Maintain and update patient accounts in the billing system.
- Communicate effectively with patients regarding financial responsibilities and statements.
- Stay current with changes in healthcare coding (ICD-10/CPT) and payer regulations.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree in Medical Billing/Coding preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical billing and revenue cycle management.
- Familiarity with Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner.
- Strong knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding guidelines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
