Responsibilities
- Review and verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits.
- Accurately code medical procedures and diagnoses using ICD-10 and CPT guidelines.
- Prepare and submit medical claims to insurance carriers (Commercial, Medicaid, Medicare).
- Follow up on denied or unpaid claims to resolve issues promptly.
- Manage accounts receivable and maintain detailed billing records.
- Communicate with patients regarding billing inquiries and statements.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and internal billing policies.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree in Medical Billing or Healthcare Administration preferred.
- Certification such as CPC, CMC, or RHIT is a strong plus.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical billing and claims processing.
- Proficient knowledge of medical coding standards (ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS).
- Experience with EHR/EMR systems (e.g., Epic, AthenaHealth) is required.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a part-time capacity.
