Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms by setting up sterile fields, instruments, and equipment according to surgical protocols
- Assist surgeons and nurses during procedures by passing instruments, supplies, and equipment
- Maintain sterile environments and enforce aseptic techniques throughout surgical cases
- Account for all surgical instruments, sponges, and needles before, during, and after procedures
- Transport patients to and from operating rooms while ensuring comfort and safety
- Stock and restock operating rooms with necessary supplies and equipment
- Document all activities and procedures accurately in electronic health records
- Collaborate with surgical team to optimize workflow and patient outcomes
Qualifications
- Completion of accredited Surgical Technology program or equivalent education
- Certification as Surgical Technologist (CST) preferred
- Minimum 1 year operating room experience required
- Strong knowledge of sterile processing and aseptic techniques
- Ability to work effectively in fast-paced, high-pressure environments
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- Flexibility to work various shifts including weekends and evenings
