Responsibilities
- Prepare sterile fields and surgical instruments for diverse procedures including orthopedic, general, and gynecological surgeries
- Assist surgeons and nursing staff during operations by passing instruments, sutures, and supplies
- Maintain sterile environments and enforce strict aseptic techniques
- Count sponges, needles, and instruments before, during, and after procedures
- Operate and troubleshoot surgical equipment including cameras, lights, and power tools
- Manage sterilization processes and inventory of surgical supplies
- Document procedural events accurately in electronic health records
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential from NBSTSA or equivalent
- Minimum 1 year of recent OR experience in acute care setting
- Proficiency in sterile processing and instrument handling protocols
- Knowledge of surgical terminology and procedure sequences
- Ability to work efficiently in fast-paced, high-pressure situations
- Strong communication skills and attention to detail
- Current BLS/CPR certification
- Flexibility to work day/evening shifts including weekends
