Responsibilities
- Assist in Surgical Procedures: Prepare operating rooms and ensure all instruments, sutures, and supplies are sterilized and ready for surgery.
- Surgeon Assistance: Pass instruments and sterile products to surgeons and first assistants during procedures, anticipating their needs.
- Patient Care: Monitor patient vital signs and maintain sterile field throughout the operation.
- Equipment Maintenance: Ensure surgical equipment is functioning correctly and report any malfunctions immediately.
- Documentation: Accurately count sponges, needles, and instruments to ensure zero loss and complete documentation of procedures.
- Infection Control: Adhere strictly to aseptic technique and infection control protocols to ensure patient safety.
Qualifications
- Certification: Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or Certified Surgical Assistant (CSA) required.
- Education: Graduation from an accredited Surgical Technology program.
- Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in an acute care hospital setting preferred.
- Licensure: Current BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification.
- Skills: Strong knowledge of surgical procedures, anatomy, and physiology.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods and lift patients or equipment as needed.
