Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms by setting up sterile instruments, equipment, and supplies.
- Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments and sutures, anticipating their needs.
- Maintain a sterile field and strictly adhere to aseptic techniques.
- Count sponges, needles, and instruments before and after procedures to ensure patient safety.
- Monitor and prepare tissue specimens for laboratory analysis.
- Ensure patient comfort and safety during the perioperative process.
- Document patient information and surgical procedures accurately in medical records.
Qualifications
- Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) required.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
- 1-3 years of clinical experience in a surgical setting preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to perform under pressure.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift equipment as needed.
- San Diego residency preferred for ease of commute.
