Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive telephone triage assessments for patients of all ages
- Provide accurate medical advice per established protocols and physician guidelines
- Coordinate patient flow between emergency departments, urgent care, and specialty clinics
- Document all interactions in electronic health records with precision and timeliness
- Collaborate with physicians to determine appropriate patient disposition
- Educate patients on symptoms, home care, and when to seek further treatment
- Maintain strict confidentiality and HIPAA compliance in all communications
Qualifications
- Current NYS Registered Nurse license (RN) in good standing
- Minimum 2 years of emergency or urgent care nursing experience
- BLS and ACLS certifications required (PALS preferred)
- Proficient in telephone triage protocols and assessment techniques
- Exceptional critical thinking and decision-making abilities
- Strong communication skills with diverse patient populations
- Experience with Epic EMR systems preferred
- Ability to work independently and adapt quickly in high-pressure situations
