Responsibilities
- Medication Preparation: Accurately prepare and package prescriptions for dispensing under the supervision of a pharmacist.
- Inventory Management: Monitor stock levels, manage inventory, and order pharmaceutical supplies to ensure adequate stock availability.
- Customer Service: Assist patients with medication questions, insurance inquiries, and provide a welcoming atmosphere at the pharmacy counter.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of prescription data, patient profiles, and inventory logs.
- Compliance: Adhere to all state and federal laws, regulations, and Henry Ford Health System policies, including HIPAA compliance.
- Quality Control: Perform routine checks on medication accuracy and assist in the compounding of medications when necessary.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or GED required; completion of an accredited pharmacy technician training program is preferred.
- Certification: Current certification as a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or ExCPT is required.
- Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a hospital or retail pharmacy setting is strongly preferred.
- Skills: Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
- Communication: Ability to communicate effectively with patients, pharmacists, and medical staff.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs.
