Responsibilities
- Accurately prepare and dispense prescription medications under pharmacist supervision
- Manage inventory control, including ordering, receiving, and tracking controlled substances
- Process insurance claims and assist patients with medication counseling
- Maintain sterile compounding areas and adhere to HIPAA/GMP protocols
- Utilize pharmacy software (e.g., Omnicell, QS1) for prescription processing
- Train new technicians on pharmacy workflows and safety procedures
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to optimize medication therapy
Qualifications
- Active Louisiana Pharmacy Technician certification (PTCB or ExCPT)
- Minimum 1 year retail or hospital pharmacy experience
- Proficiency in pharmacy management systems and compounding techniques
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication skills for patient interactions
- Basic understanding of medical terminology and drug classifications
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs and stand for extended periods
- High school diploma or equivalent required
