Responsibilities
- Prescription Processing: Verify prescriptions for accuracy and completeness before dispensing, ensuring compliance with all state and federal regulations.
- Medication Preparation: Accurately prepare and package medications, including counting, pouring, and labeling, under the supervision of a pharmacist.
- Inventory Management: Monitor stock levels, order pharmaceutical supplies, and manage inventory to ensure the pharmacy is always stocked.
- Customer Service: Assist customers with prescription inquiries, provide medication counseling where appropriate, and ensure a welcoming environment.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, insurance information, and prescription history in the pharmacy management system.
- Regulatory Compliance: Adhere to HIPAA guidelines and health and safety protocols to protect patient confidentiality and workplace safety.
Qualifications
- Certification: Must hold current certification as a Pharmacy Technician (PTCB or ExCPT) and a valid Illinois State Pharmacy Technician License.
- Education: High school diploma or GED required.
- Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a retail or hospital pharmacy setting preferred.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with patients and healthcare professionals.
- Technical Proficiency: Comfortable using computerized pharmacy systems and point-of-sale equipment.
- Attention to Detail: Strong ability to focus on details and ensure accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
- Professionalism: Ability to maintain a professional demeanor and adhere to strict ethical standards.
