Responsibilities
- Dispense Medications: Accurately prepare and dispense prescription medications to patients following doctor's orders and safety protocols.
- Patient Assistance: Interact with patients to answer questions regarding medications, dosage, and side effects, ensuring a positive customer service experience.
- Inventory Management: Monitor medication stock levels, place orders for replenishment, and maintain accurate inventory records.
- Insurance Verification: Verify patient insurance coverage and process claims to ensure timely payment.
- Regulatory Compliance: Adhere to all state and federal laws, including HIPAA, and maintain strict confidentiality of patient information.
- Quality Control: Assist in the quality assurance process by performing medication reviews and labeling tasks.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required; completion of an accredited Pharmacy Technician program is preferred.
- Certification: Current CPhT (Certified Pharmacy Technician) certification (e.g., through PTCB or ExCPT) is highly preferred.
- Experience: 1-2 years of experience as a Pharmacy Technician in a retail or hospital setting is a plus.
- Skills: Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Computer Proficiency: Ability to use pharmacy management systems (e.g., BD, McKesson) and basic computer functions.
