Responsibilities
- Verify and Process Prescriptions: Accurately review and fill prescriptions under the supervision of a pharmacist, ensuring all patient information and dosage instructions are correct.
- Inventory Management: Monitor stock levels, order pharmaceutical supplies, and manage returns or expired medications to maintain optimal inventory.
- Customer Service: Interact with patients and healthcare providers in a professional manner, answering questions regarding medications and providing refill assistance.
- Medication Preparation: Prepare sterile compounds and perform compounding tasks as required by hospital protocols.
- Regulatory Compliance: Adhere strictly to HIPAA regulations, DEA guidelines, and state pharmacy board laws to ensure patient privacy and safety.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of dispensed medications and any adverse drug events.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or GED required; graduation from an accredited Pharmacy Technician program is preferred.
- Certification: Current certification as a CPhT (Certified Pharmacy Technician) through PTCB or ExCPT is required.
- Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a hospital or retail pharmacy setting is highly desirable.
- Attention to Detail: Exceptional ability to verify data and detect errors in a fast-paced environment.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain complex medical information clearly.
- Computer Proficiency: Comfortable using pharmacy management software (e.g., Cerner, Epic, RxNT).
