Responsibilities
- Dispensing: Prepare and package prescription medications accurately under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Verification: Verify prescription information for completeness, accuracy, and appropriateness before dispensing.
- Inventory Management: Manage pharmacy stock, including ordering, stocking, and reconciling supplies to ensure optimal availability.
- Customer Service: Assist customers with medication questions, provide drug utilization reviews, and ensure a positive patient experience.
- Administrative Support: Process insurance claims, handle billing inquiries, and maintain accurate patient records and documentation.
- Compounding & Special Prep: Assist in the compounding of special pharmaceutical preparations and aseptic techniques when required.
- Compliance: Adhere to all state and federal pharmacy laws, HIPAA regulations, and safety protocols.
Qualifications
- Certification: Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) or eligible to obtain certification through PTCB or ExCPT.
- Licensure: Current, active California Pharmacy Technician License (RPhT).
- Experience: Minimum 1-2 years of experience in a retail or hospital pharmacy setting preferred.
- Math Skills: Strong mathematical aptitude and the ability to perform dosage calculations accurately.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a focus on patient safety.
- Organization: Ability to multitask, prioritize tasks, and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
