Responsibilities
- Verify prescription accuracy by checking doctor's orders, drug interactions, and patient allergies.
- Prepare and package prescription medications, including compounding and labeling.
- Process insurance claims and handle copayments efficiently at the point of service.
- Manage pharmacy inventory, including ordering, receiving, and organizing stock.
- Assist pharmacists with medication therapy management and other clinical services.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary work area compliant with all state and federal regulations.
- Communicate effectively with patients regarding prescription refills and insurance issues.
Qualifications
- Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) required (PTCB or ExCPT certification).
- Current state pharmacy technician license in good standing.
- High School Diploma or GED required; completion of an accredited pharmacy technician program is a plus.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a retail or hospital pharmacy setting preferred.
- Strong mathematical skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
