Responsibilities
- Verify and Prepare Medications: Accurately verify prescription information, including dosage, frequency, and patient allergies, to ensure patient safety.
- Medication Dispensing: Accurately dispense prescribed medications and prepare IV admixtures under the supervision of a pharmacist.
- Inventory Management: Monitor medication stock levels, manage reorders, and maintain accurate inventory records.
- Customer Service: Interact with patients and healthcare professionals to answer questions regarding prescriptions and provide excellent service.
- Insurance Verification: Process insurance claims and verify patient benefits to ensure timely reimbursement.
- Regulatory Compliance: Adhere to all state and federal laws, HIPAA regulations, and hospital policies regarding medication handling.
Qualifications
- Certification: Current certification as a Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) or equivalent state license required.
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required.
- Experience: 1-2 years of experience as a Pharmacy Technician preferred, but new graduates with externship experience are encouraged to apply.
- Attention to Detail: Exceptional ability to perform repetitive tasks with high accuracy and attention to detail.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Technical Proficiency: Ability to navigate pharmacy management software and electronic health records (EHR).
