Responsibilities
- Prescription Processing: Accurately receive, verify, and dispense prescription medications under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Inventory Management: Monitor stock levels, manage pharmacy inventory, and place orders for pharmaceutical supplies and over-the-counter medications.
- Patient Service: Greet customers, answer phone inquiries, and provide accurate information regarding prescriptions and health products.
- Medication Preparation: Prepare sterile compound medications and perform pharmaceutical calculations as required.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to HIPAA regulations, state pharmacy laws, and Apex Pharmacy protocols.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records and prescription history logs in our pharmacy management system.
- Quality Assurance: Assist in the preparation of controlled substance inventory logs and annual audits.
Qualifications
- Certification: Current, unencumbered Pharmacy Technician Certification (PTCB or ExCPT) required.
- Education: High school diploma or GED required; completion of an accredited pharmacy technician program is preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a retail or hospital pharmacy setting is highly desirable.
- Skills: Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical terminology, drug interactions, and dosage calculations.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with patients and colleagues.
- Technical Proficiency: Proficiency with pharmacy dispensing software (e.g., BD, Cerner) and computer systems.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 25 lbs, and perform repetitive tasks.
