Responsibilities
- Dispense Medications: Accurately prepare and package prescription medications according to doctor's orders and state regulations.
- Verify Information: Review patient profiles for allergies, drug interactions, and insurance coverage before dispensing.
- Inventory Management: Monitor stock levels, receive deliveries, and restock pharmacy shelves to ensure medications are always available.
- Customer Service: Greet patients, answer phone inquiries, and resolve issues professionally to ensure a positive patient experience.
- Regulatory Compliance: Maintain strict adherence to HIPAA guidelines and pharmacy safety protocols at all times.
- Assist Pharmacists: Support senior pharmacists with compounding, filing, and quality assurance tasks.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required; Pharmacy Technician certification (CPhT) preferred.
- Licensure: Valid state Pharmacy Technician license (or ability to obtain one) is mandatory.
- Attention to Detail: Exceptional ability to spot errors and verify complex medication orders.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact with patients and medical staff.
- Computer Proficiency: Familiarity with pharmacy management software (e.g., Rx30, McKesson) is a plus.
- Physical Demands: Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs.
