Responsibilities
- Dispense Medications: Accurately prepare and dispense prescription medications under the supervision of a pharmacist, ensuring proper labeling and packaging.
- Verify Prescriptions: Review and verify prescriptions for completeness and accuracy, checking for drug interactions and allergies.
- Inventory Management: Monitor stock levels, restock shelves, and manage pharmacy inventory to ensure seamless operations.
- Customer Service: Interact professionally with patients to answer questions regarding prescriptions, insurance, and medication usage.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate patient records and documentation in accordance with HIPAA and company policies.
- Assist Pharmacists: Support the pharmacist in compounding medications and handling special orders.
Qualifications
- Certification: Current PTCB or ExCPT certification required.
- License: New York State Pharmacy Technician License.
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required; completion of an accredited pharmacy technician program is preferred.
- Attention to Detail: Exceptional ability to focus on details to prevent medication errors.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience: Minimum 1-2 years of experience in a retail or hospital pharmacy setting is preferred.
