Responsibilities
- Medication Preparation: Accurately prepare and package prescription medications according to doctor's orders and safety protocols.
- Inventory Management: Monitor stock levels, manage pharmacy inventory, and assist in ordering and receiving pharmaceutical supplies.
- Customer Service: Interact with patients in person and over the phone to provide medication information and resolve inquiries professionally.
- Verification: Verify patient information and insurance details to ensure billing accuracy and regulatory compliance.
- Assistance: Collaborate with pharmacists to assist with sterile compounding, medication therapy management, and other clinical tasks.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records and medication profiles using the pharmacy management system.
Qualifications
- Certification: Current certification as a Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) or eligibility to obtain certification (e.g., through PTCB or ExCPT).
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; Post-secondary education in pharmacy technology is preferred.
- Skills: Strong attention to detail and excellent mathematical skills for accurate dispensing.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with patients and colleagues.
- Physical Demands: Ability to stand for extended periods and lift boxes weighing up to 25 pounds.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with state and federal pharmacy laws and regulations.
