Responsibilities
- Perform venipunctures and capillary blood draws on patients of all age groups with precision, speed, and a focus on patient comfort.
- Verify patient identity and accurately complete all required documentation, labels, and requisitions.
- Ensure strict adherence to CLIA, OSHA, and HIPAA safety protocols during every procedure.
- Properly label, process, and store blood specimens to maintain chain of custody integrity.
- Maintain a clean, sterile work environment and manage inventory of supplies and equipment.
- Collaborate with nursing staff and physicians to resolve specimen collection issues efficiently.
Qualifications
- Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) or equivalent certification required.
- New York State (NYS) Department of Health license required.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of recent clinical phlebotomy experience in a hospital or lab setting preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow complex laboratory instructions.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for patient interaction.
- Basic computer literacy and ability to learn EMR/EHR systems quickly.
