Responsibilities
- Perform routine venipunctures and capillary blood draws with precision and patient comfort.
- Prepare and label blood specimens accurately for laboratory testing and transport.
- Maintain strict adherence to infection control, safety protocols, and HIPAA regulations.
- Manage patient intake processes, verifying identity and ensuring informed consent.
- Calibrate and maintain phlebotomy equipment, ensuring all supplies are well-stocked.
- Collaborate effectively with nursing and medical staff to optimize patient flow.
- Document all procedures and patient reactions accurately in electronic health records.
Qualifications
- Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) or equivalent certification.
- Current and valid Alaska State Phlebotomy License.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
- Previous experience in a clinical or hospital setting is highly preferred.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to calm and comfort anxious patients.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs as needed.
