Responsibilities

  • Perform venipunctures and capillary blood draws on patients of all ages with precision and minimal discomfort.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitized phlebotomy station in compliance with OSHA and CDC safety standards.
  • Accurately label, process, and transport blood samples to the laboratory for analysis.
  • Interact professionally and compassionately with patients, explaining procedures and answering questions to reduce anxiety.
  • Verify patient identity and information against the work order or requisition form before every procedure.
  • Document all procedures, results, and patient reactions in the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
  • Assist with inventory management, ensuring that supplies and test kits are stocked and ready for use.

Qualifications

  • Current, active certification as a Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) from an accredited institution (e.g., ASCP, NHA).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) required.
  • High School Diploma or GED is mandatory.
  • Minimum of 1 year of clinical experience in a hospital, outpatient, or lab setting preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs as needed.
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
