Responsibilities
- Perform venipunctures and capillary blood draws on patients of all ages and demographics with a high degree of accuracy and patient comfort.
- Verify patient identity using two unique identifiers (e.g., name and date of birth) prior to sample collection.
- Label, process, and store blood specimens according to strict laboratory protocols and safety regulations.
- Maintain a clean, sterile, and organized work environment to ensure compliance with HIPAA and OSHA standards.
- Communicate effectively with patients to explain procedures, alleviate anxiety, and answer questions.
- Collaborate with nurses, doctors, and laboratory staff to ensure seamless patient care flow.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; completion of an accredited Phlebotomy program is preferred.
- Certification (e.g., ASCP, ASPT, or NHA) is a plus, but we provide paid training for eligible candidates without certification.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow complex instructions precisely.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Physical stamina to stand for long periods and lift equipment up to 50 lbs.
- Basic computer literacy and ability to use Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems.
