Responsibilities
- Perform routine venipunctures and capillary blood draws on patients of all ages.
- Ensure proper labeling, handling, and storage of all specimens to maintain chain of custody.
- Interact professionally with patients to minimize anxiety and ensure a positive experience.
- Maintain a sterile, clean, and organized work area in strict compliance with OSHA and HIPAA regulations.
- Document patient information accurately into Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems.
- Collaborate effectively with nurses, physicians, and lab staff to ensure timely specimen processing.
- Assist with other clerical duties such as greeting patients and answering phones.
Qualifications
- Certification as a Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) or Medical Assistant (MA) is required.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
- Previous experience in a clinical setting or phlebotomy is preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow strict safety protocols.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 25 lbs.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
