Responsibilities
- Perform routine venipunctures and capillary blood draws on patients of all age groups, including pediatrics and geriatrics.
- Verify patient identity and accurately label all specimens to ensure proper chain of custody.
- Maintain a sterile work environment and strictly adhere to OSHA and CLIA safety protocols.
- Handle and transport specimens to the laboratory promptly while maintaining proper temperature controls.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with patients to alleviate anxiety and ensure comfort during the draw process.
- Assist in inventory management of supplies and routine maintenance of phlebotomy equipment.
- Document patient information and collection procedures accurately in the electronic health record (EHR).
Qualifications
- Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) or equivalent certification (e.g., ASPT, NHA) required.
- Current state licensure or registration as a Phlebotomist in California.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
- Previous clinical experience in a hospital, clinic, or lab setting preferred.
- Strong manual dexterity and excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
