Responsibilities

  • Perform venipunctures and capillary blood draws on patients of all ages with precision and minimal discomfort.
  • Verify patient identity and ensure all pre-draw procedures are followed for safety and compliance.
  • Label, process, and transport specimens to the laboratory for analysis in a timely manner.
  • Maintain a clean and sterile work environment, adhering to strict infection control protocols.
  • Communicate effectively with patients to alleviate anxiety and explain procedures clearly.
  • Manage inventory of phlebotomy supplies and report any equipment malfunctions to the supervisor.

Qualifications

  • Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) or equivalent certification required.
  • Active Louisiana State Phlebotomy License.
  • High School Diploma or GED required; completion of an accredited Phlebotomy program is preferred.
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) Certification from the American Heart Association is mandatory.
