Responsibilities
- Perform venipunctures and capillary blood draws on patients of all ages with precision and care.
- Ensure strict adherence to laboratory safety protocols and infection control standards.
- Verify patient identification and accurately label all specimens prior to transport.
- Maintain a clean and organized workstation, ensuring all equipment is sanitized and functional.
- Communicate clearly with patients to explain procedures and alleviate any anxiety.
- Assist with inventory management of phlebotomy supplies and documentation.
- Collaborate with nurses and lab technicians to ensure seamless patient flow.
Qualifications
- Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) or eligibility to obtain certification within 6 months.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- High school diploma or GED is mandatory.
- Previous experience in a clinical setting is preferred but not always required.
- Excellent manual dexterity and attention to detail.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact professionally with patients and staff.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs.
