Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture, capillary punctures, and blood draws across diverse patient populations
- Process and label specimens with meticulous attention to detail and HIPAA compliance
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment including centrifuges and analyzers
- Provide patient education on procedures while ensuring comfort and reducing anxiety
- Collaborate with clinical teams to ensure timely specimen processing and reporting
- Adhere to OSHA safety protocols and infection control standards
- Participate in quality assurance initiatives and continuous improvement programs
Qualifications
- Current Phlebotomy Technician certification (ASCP, AMT, or equivalent)
- Minimum 1 year clinical experience in a fast-paced laboratory setting
- Strong knowledge of venipuncture techniques and specimen handling
- Excellent communication skills with diverse patient populations
- CPR certification (or willingness to obtain within 30 days)
- Proficiency in LIS systems and electronic health records
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining precision
- Tennessee state phlebotomy license (if applicable)
