Responsibilities
- Perform venipunctures and capillary blood draws on patients of all ages with the highest level of precision and patient comfort.
- Label, process, and transport blood specimens to the laboratory accurately and efficiently to ensure test validity.
- Maintain strict adherence to HIPAA compliance, OSHA safety protocols, and laboratory safety standards.
- Verify patient identification and medical history to ensure correct specimen collection and documentation.
- Manage inventory of phlebotomy supplies, restocking drawers, and notifying management of stock shortages.
- Assist with patient check-in processes and answer inquiries regarding blood draw procedures to ensure a smooth clinic flow.
- Collaborate with the nursing and administrative staff to resolve patient concerns and ensure high satisfaction scores.
Qualifications
- Certification as a Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) or Medical Assistant (MA) preferred.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association required.
- Minimum of 1 year of clinical phlebotomy experience in a hospital or clinic setting preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow complex laboratory instructions.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for interacting with diverse patient populations.
- Ability to stand, walk, and lift up to 25 lbs for extended periods during shifts.
