Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture and capillary punctures with precision and patient comfort
- Verify patient identification and ensure proper specimen labeling protocols
- Maintain sterile collection environments and adhere to infection control standards
- Process and transport specimens efficiently while maintaining chain of custody
- Document procedures accurately in electronic health records systems
- Train new staff on phlebotomy best practices and safety protocols
- Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives
Qualifications
- Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) or equivalent credential
- Minimum 2 years clinical phlebotomy experience
- Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Proficiency in HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality
- Demonstrated expertise in handling difficult draws and pediatric patients
- Experience with LIS/HIS systems and specimen processing
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and bedside manner
