Responsibilities
- Perform routine venipunctures and capillary blood draws on patients of all ages with minimal discomfort.
- Verify patient identification and ensure strict adherence to HIPAA and OSHA safety protocols.
- Properly label, process, and transport blood specimens to the laboratory for testing.
- Maintain and sterilize all phlebotomy equipment and workstations daily.
- Educate patients about the procedure, provide post-procedure care, and address any concerns.
- Accurately log patient data and specimen information into laboratory information systems (LIS).
- Collaborate with nurses and physicians to ensure seamless patient care flow.
Qualifications
- Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) or equivalent certification required.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
- High School Diploma or GED required; Associate degree in Medical Technology preferred.
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
- Excellent manual dexterity and ability to work in a fast-paced clinical environment.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for occasional mobile phlebotomy duties.
